Overview
In 1996, a creative, young couple – Pacifica Founders, Brook Harvey-Taylor and Billy Taylor – unknowingly charted a new frontier in fragrance. What started with seven home-blended perfumes, ultimately, led to a modern and irreverent West Coast take on fragrance blending and the respected and beloved fragrance house known as Pacifica.
Pacifica was conceived on the drive home from a surfing trip. Brook and Billy knew they wanted to create a company that would reflect their talents, passion for nature and beauty and healthy, surfer lifestyle. A natural perfumer, Brook had been making her own fragrances since high school and trained in aromatherapy during college. So, she took her seven favorite blends, put them into candles (intuitively knowing that this would be an easier way for a new comer to break into fragrance than to launch actual Perfumes right off the bat) and took them to a trade show. Orders were off the charts. Brook and Billy came home from the trade show and set up a candle factory the next week.
Over 12 years later, Pacifica has emerged as a breath of fresh, ocean air in the world of fragrance, with scents that are sophisticated and complex, yet happy, easy to wear and affordable for everyone. Most of all, Pacifica is an expression of the pure joy of being alive and reflects Brook and Billy’s creativity and endless sensory wonder. Their fragrance blends and bold, colorful packaging are inspired by surfing, sunshine, travel, romance, history, world cultures, art, kids (especially their own), flowers, fabulous food and more. They love knowing that their Spray and Solid Perfumes, Candles, Body Butters and Natural Soaps carry this joy into their customers’ hearts and homes and linger in their fondest memories.
Standards and Ethics
Pacifica is also an expression of Brook and Billy’s most deeply held values, their genuine concern for the health of people and the planet that defines the company’s standards for quality, fairness, safety, sustainability and anti-cruelty.
Pacifica products are made using the finest, consumer-safe and sustainable raw materials, including natural ingredients and essential oils. Pacifica products are free of parabens, propylene glycol, phthalates and lead wicks. Products from every batch are randomly tested to ensure that the company’s high quality standards are met. Pacifica packaging is both recyclable and made with recycled content and the company reuses and reduces wherever possible, regularly reevaluating processes to maximize this effort. Pacifica is working towards carbon neutrality and is 100% committed to cruelty-freedom. In this regard, the company does not use any animal ingredients, including beeswax, and does not test its formulations on animals or use ingredients that are currently tested on animals.
